California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network Recognized as a Healthy People 2030 Champion for Supporting the Initiative’s Vision
The California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network is pleased to be recognized by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a Healthy People 2030 Champion.
As a Healthy People 2030 Champion, The CA LGBTQ HHS Network has demonstrated a commitment to helping achieve the Healthy People 2030 vision of a society in which all people can achieve their full potential for health and well-being across the lifespan. ODPHP recognizes The CA LGBTQ HHS Network, along with other Healthy People 2030 Champions, as part of a growing network of organizations partnering with ODPHP to improve health and well-being at the local, state, and tribal level.
“The CA LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network has a strong track record of advocating to eliminate health disparities, advance health equity, and improve the health outcomes of the LGBTQ community,” stated Network Director, Dannie Cesena. “To be included in a national objective to advance LGBTQ voices is an honor, and our team is excited to continue to engage in research, advocacy, and policy implementation.”
“ODPHP is thrilled to recognize The California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network for its work to support the Healthy People 2030 vision,” says RADM Paul Reed, MD, ODPHP Director. “Only by collaborating with partners nationwide can we achieve Healthy People 2030’s overarching goals and objectives.”
Healthy People 2030 is the fifth iteration of the Healthy People initiative, which sets 10-year national objectives to improve health and well-being nationwide. Healthy People 2030 Champions are public and private organizations that are working to help achieve Healthy People objectives. They receive official support and recognition from ODPHP.
The California LGBTQ Health & Human Services Network is an LGBTQ-specific program of Health Access, bringing together more than 60 non-profit providers, community centers, and researchers to advocate collectively for state-level policies and resources that will advance LGBTQ health. Founded in 2007, the Network provides coordinated leadership about LGBTQ health policy in a proactive, responsive manner that promotes health and well-being as part of the movement for LGBTQ equality, and ensures that there is a distinct LGBTQ voice in health policy decision-making venues.
