While there is still work to do to advance the rig While there is still work to do to advance the rights and well-being of transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) communities, today we're taking a moment to celebrate a historic victory.

Governor Newsom has included a historic $26 million investment to help protect access to gender-affirming care in the final 2026–27 California State Budget.

This victory belongs to all of us. Thank you to every organization, healthcare provider, advocate, community member, and anyone who submitted a letter, made a call, shared your story, or spoke up about why this investment was so critical. Your advocacy made a difference and is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish through collective action and solidarity.

We're grateful to Governor Newsom and California's leaders for taking meaningful action to help protect TGI Californians.🏳️‍⚧️ 💟

“At a time when transgender youth and their families are facing unprecedented challenges across the country, California has chosen to stand as a beacon of hope, safety, and dignity. We are deeply grateful to Governor Newsom and our state leaders for not just speaking about equality, but funding it. By protecting access to gender-affirming care and robustly supporting the Transgender Health Care Fund, California is actively saving lives and setting a powerful national standard." - Dannie Ceseña, Director of the California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network
