California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network Strengthens Leadership with Key Staff Promotion to Support Growth
The California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network, a statewide coalition working to advance LGBTQ health equity, is excited to announce the promotion of Isaias Guzman as the Network’s Manager of Programs. Isaias was formerly the Network’s Organizer and LGBTQ Program Coordinator and has been integral to the work of the organization for over 4 years.
“The Network is growing exponentially and to best support our projects it made sense to create a position that provides support to our staff and projects,” stated Network Director, Dannie Cesena. “Isaias has a proven track record of providing strategy and growth for each of our various projects, developed strong relationships with legislatures, and knows each program housed within the Network intimately. I am excited to have Isaias continue to develop his skills as a leader and to bring the passion he has for LGBTQ health equity to the rest of the team.”
During his time at the Network, Isaias has led various webinars and trainings to support the Network’s We Breathe program, the Statewide Coordinating Center to reduce LGBTQ tobacco-related disparities. Most recently, he hosted a webinar to share the tobacco control policy recommendations for LGBTQ+ communities, highlighting the root issues of tobacco usage within the community, and shared ways on how local LGBTQ+ communities can apply specific strategies in their work. Additionally, Isaias has been supportive of the Network’s program #Out4MentalHealth in providing capacity building trainings to state-wide organizations aiming to advance mental health equity, resources in local LGBTQ+ communities, and assisted in building a coalition voice at state-level policy discussions.
“I am honored and filled with appreciation to serve LGBTQ communities and the Network team as the Manager of Programs for The California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network,” stated Isaias. “I look forward to building and strengthening our efforts to create systemic change and addressing the health inequities and injustices our communities face. Through policy, budget, and administrative advocacy – and coordinated leadership with our Network members – it is imperative to work across marginalized communities and build a strong coalition for health justice. I am excited to work towards this goal and look forward to seeing what we can create and achieve together.”
As the Manager of Programs, Isaias will provide programmatic and staff support to all funded programs within The Network. Additionally, he will be mentored by the Network Director on Qualitative and Quantitative data collection and analysis, mentoring and directing staff, and grant management.
