Trump’s Executive Orders and How They Impact LGBTQ+ Communities

Dear Community,

In the face of the recent Executive Orders signed by President Trump, we share your concerns and acknowledge the profound impact these decisions have on our communities. With that in mind, these EOs are designed to instill shock, fear and panic.  While these moments are challenging, they are also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding LGBTQ+ health care and advancing health equity.

This week, our team is in Washington D.C., networking and learning from dedicated healthcare advocates from across the nation. We have been lobbying with Congressional Members to ensure they join us in protecting vital programs like Medicaid and Medicare that provide vital health resources for the health well-being of millions, especially Transgender folkx in California. Our time in D.C. is significant and serves as a vital reminder that we are not alone in this fight. We stand in solidarity with countless others who share our commitment to advocacy and justice.

We’d like to share the sentiments shared by Congresswoman McBride at the Families USA Conference. Essentially, hope is not a passive emotion—it is an active choice. We carry this message forward, knowing that by working together, we can confront these challenges with resilience and determination. The Network remains unwavering in ensuring access to culturally affirming care for LGBTQ+ communities. In addition, we will hold regulatory systems accountable, pushing for the prioritization of funding for LGBTQ communities targeted towards programming that is not only informed by but also led by LGBTQ organizations. It is essential that our voices are heard and that the specific needs of our community are met with compassion and respect. We will continue to advocate for policies that prioritize funding for programs informed and led by LGBTQ+ organizations and hold systems accountable for delivering equitable, compassionate care.

The road ahead will undoubtedly be tough, and we must be prepared for the likelihood that more attacks on our community will arise.  Yet, we must stand strong, advocate fiercely, and support one another as we navigate the challenges that lie ahead. In unity there is strength, and together we will safeguard the health and well-being of our communities against any threats that may come our way.

Let us move forward with hope, tenacity, and a collective commitment to ensuring a brighter, more equitable future for all.

In Solidarity,
